What to pay attention to
- The SFP module must match the switch. Check the speed (1G / 10G), the wavelength (850nm for short distances, 1310/1550nm for long ones) and the fibre type;
- Patch cord category. Cat5e for 1 Gbps, Cat6 / Cat6a for 2.5G and 10G;
- PoE injector. If the switch does not supply PoE, an injector delivers power and data to the camera over a single cable;
- Media converter. Converts a fibre signal to copper — the standard solution for links between buildings.

Which SFP module do I need?
It depends on the switch, the speed (1G or 10G), the distance and the fibre type. Up to 300 metres — 850nm multimode; for 10–40 km — 1310nm single-mode. Contact us and we will select it for you.
Should I buy Cat5e or Cat6?
Cat5e is limited to 1 Gbps over 100 metres. For new cabling always choose Cat6 or Cat6a — it supports 2.5G and 10G, resists interference better and handles PoE better too.
