What to consider
- Arm length. Standard models cover a 3–6 metre passage;
- Opening speed. 1.5–6 seconds — the busier the traffic, the faster the model needs to be;
- Access method. Card, key fob, number plate recognition (LPR) or remote control;
- Safety. A photocell or induction loop prevents the arm closing on a vehicle;
- Power failure. A manual release is an essential feature.
