How many channels do you need
Choose a recorder with room to grow — you may want extra cameras later. For 4 cameras take an 8-channel unit; for 6–8 cameras take a 16-channel one.
- 4 channels — apartment, small office, building entrance; from 123₾;
- 8 channels — house with a yard, shop, warehouse; from 227₾;
- 16 channels — factory, warehouse, construction site; from 378₾;
- 32 channels and more — large facilities, RAID and multiple drives.

Motion-triggered recording (recording only when something moves) extends the archive by 2–3 times.

How much does a video recorder cost?

NVR or DVR — which do I need?
An NVR records IP cameras over network cable, a DVR records analogue HD cameras over coaxial. If you are building a new system, take an NVR. If the site already has old cabling, choose an XVR, which supports both types.
What size hard drive do I need?
Four 4MP cameras need roughly 2TB for a 7-day archive and 4TB for 14 days. Sixteen cameras need 8TB. We recommend a surveillance-grade drive (WD Purple, Seagate SkyHawk).
What is a PoE NVR?
A PoE NVR has built-in PoE ports — you connect IP cameras directly, with no separate power supply and no separate switch. It is the most convenient option for homes and offices.
Can I view the recordings from my phone?
Yes, every modern recorder connects to a mobile app: Dahua DMSS, Hikvision Hik-Connect, Imou Life. All you need is an internet connection at the site.
