Which type to choose
| Type | How it works | What for |
|---|---|---|
| Offline / Standby | Switches to battery when power fails (4–10 ms) | Home computer, router |
| Line-Interactive | Corrects voltage (AVR) without using the battery | Office, NVR, network equipment |
| Online (double conversion) | Continuously generates clean power — zero transfer time | Servers, medical and industrial equipment |
How to size it
Add up the wattage of the equipment you want to protect and add 30% headroom. A UPS's VA rating is roughly 1.6 times its wattage.
| What you protect | Load | Recommended UPS |
|---|---|---|
| Router + modem | ~30W | 650–850VA |
| A 4-camera NVR system | ~80W | 1000–1500VA |
| Office PC + monitor | ~200W | 1000–1500VA |
| Server or a network cabinet | 500W+ | 3000VA online |
What else you will need
- Server cabinets and PDUs;
- Servers and NAS storage;
- NVR recorders — recording must not stop during an outage;
- Inverters and solar systems — for longer autonomy.

How much does a UPS cost in Georgia?
At ITGS UPS units cost between 280₾ and 9990₾. Home models of 650–850VA are 280₾–600₾, 1000–1500VA units 600₾–1500₾, and server-grade online systems start from 3000₾.
How many VA do I need?
Add up the load of the protected equipment in watts, add 30% headroom and multiply by 1.6. For example an 80W system needs about 170VA, but for reserve and runtime people usually choose 1000VA.
Line-Interactive or Online?
For a home or office Line-Interactive is enough and much cheaper. Online (double conversion) is needed for servers, medical equipment and production machinery, where even a small voltage dip is unacceptable.
How long will a UPS run?
A standard UPS is designed to let you finish work safely — 5–15 minutes at full load. For longer runtime you add external battery packs or an inverter.
How often should the battery be replaced?
A UPS lead-acid battery lasts 3–5 years on average. If runtime has dropped sharply it is time to replace it. ITGS offers battery replacement and warranty service.
