How to choose an IP camera

An IP camera sends video over the network to an NVR or straight to the cloud. That brings high resolution, AI features and single-cable power (PoE) — but the lens and resolution must be chosen correctly.

What to pay attention to

  • Resolution: 4MP is ideal for homes and offices; 8MP (4K) where plates or faces must be identifiable.
  • PoE: the camera is powered over the network cable — no separate mains run. It needs a PoE switch.
  • Night vision: IR gives black and white in total darkness; ColorVu / Full-Color keeps colour 24/7 with minimal ambient light.
  • Protection rating: IP66/IP67 outdoors; vandal-resistant IK10 in building entrances.
  • AI analytics: WizSense/WizMind recognise people and vehicles and cut false alarms.
  • Audio and SD: a built-in microphone and microSD slot allow standalone recording.

How much does an IP camera cost?
At ITGS IP cameras start from 108₾ (basic 2MP models) and reach 2110₾ (8MP AI and PTZ models). The most popular 4MP models sit in the 190₾–260₾ range.
What is the difference between IP and HD cameras?
An IP camera sends video digitally over network cable (UTP) to an NVR. An HD camera uses coaxial cable and connects to an XVR/DVR. IP offers higher resolution, AI features and PoE power.
What is PoE and why do I need it?
PoE (Power over Ethernet) delivers both power and network to the camera over a single UTP cable. That cuts installation costs — no separate mains run is needed. It requires a PoE switch or an NVR with PoE ports.
How many cameras does a house need?
A flat needs 2–4 cameras (entrance, hallway, balcony). A house with a yard needs 4–8 to cover the perimeter and entrances. Contact us for free planning.
Can I use an IP camera without a recorder?
Yes. Many models have a microSD slot and store footage on the card. For a reliable archive, though, we recommend an NVR with a hard drive.
