How an office network is built
- Internet connection — fibre or copper.
- Router — firewall, VPN, NAT, DHCP. A MikroTik hEX or RB5009 suits most offices.
- Switch — to connect devices and power PoE cameras and phones.
- Wi-Fi access points (AP) — one router cannot cover a large area. Ubiquiti UniFi or MikroTik cAP are expandable systems.
- Network cabinet and UPS — equipment in one place, protected from power cuts.
What each brand is good at
| Brand | Strength | Where to use it |
|---|---|---|
| MikroTik | Maximum control at a low price | ISP, complex networks, VPN, firewall |
| Ubiquiti UniFi | Centralised management, simple interface | Offices, hotels, warehouses |
| QNAP | NAS storage, RAID | Backups, video archives |

How much does it cost to build an office network?
A network for a 10–20 person office (router, 24-port switch, 2 Wi-Fi APs, cabinet, UPS) costs roughly 2500₾–4500₾ in equipment. The exact figure depends on the floor area and the cabling.
Router or access point?
A router connects the network to the internet and manages traffic. An access point (AP) only distributes the Wi-Fi signal. A large area needs one router and several APs.
What is a VLAN and why is it needed?
A VLAN splits the network into logical segments — for example cameras on one, office computers on another, guest Wi-Fi on a third. This improves both security and network stability.
Do you design networks?
Yes. ITGS handles the whole job: site survey, design, structured cabling, equipment installation, configuration and ongoing support.
Can you help with MikroTik configuration?
Yes. RouterOS is a powerful system but it takes expertise. We configure firewalls, VPN, VLANs, QoS and traffic monitoring.
